Working with CRREM
This article explains how to use the CRREM constraints in the optimization in order to get your assets on track!
💡 Working with CRREM in the Asset Strategy Designer
In this tutorial, we demonstrate how to integrate CRREM pathways into the Asset Strategy Designer to optimize your decarbonization strategies.
You’ll learn how to:
Select a CRREM pathway, including the latest 1.5°C version and use optimization constraints to avoid CRREM misalignment and align your asset strategy with climate targets.
Key functionalities:
- Stay below the CRREM path until a specific year.
- Reach the CRREM path by a target year.
- Adjust tolerance levels to allow flexibility in emission constraints.
- Define reference years to target future CRREM values earlier (e.g., reaching 2050 targets by 2030) and understand how infeasibility errors can arise if the parameters are too ambitious.
- Enable earlier retrofits when necessary to meet emission goals, even before component lifetimes expire.
This tutorial helps you understand how to use CRREM pathways effectively in Optiml to design realistic, cost-efficient, and climate-aligned retrofit strategies.
